I would tell you a UDP joke, but you probably wouldn’t get it. Not cus of UDP but cus I make bad jokes. Former 162 head and an avid systems, golf, basketball, IU, and Tetris enjoyer.
Hi, my name is Alex. I’m a first-year PhD student focused on Networking and Systems. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in EECS and a B.A. in Music in 2019, then worked at Google for a few years before returning to Berkeley to pursue my PhD. I like playing violin and skiing.
What a joy that we share curiosity towards the Internet! I’m a PhD candidate advised by Sylvia and my fav Internet paper is “Tussle in Cyberspace: Defining Tomorrow’s Internet” by David Clark. If you’re also interested in building future systems at Internet-scale, ping me and let’s chat!
Graduate student working on systems and networking. I like exploring OS and network protocol internals. I also like climbing.
Sarah is a third-year PhD student in the NetSys lab working with Sylvia Ratnasamy and Scott Shenker. She is interested in all things networking, systems, and sitcoms.
Kenneth is interested in distributed systems and networks. When not hacking away, he’s out running and exploring.
Zhihong Luo is a PhD student in Computer Science advised by Prof. Scott Shenker and Prof. Sylvia Ratnasamy. His research interests lie the broad areas of systems and networking.
A graduate student who probably hasn’t stopped smiling since this photo was taken. Mark is a first year graduate student working with Scott Shenker in the NetSys Lab. When not typing on his computing machine, he wastes energy scaling up rocks and hills just to come back down.
Tenzin is a second year graduate student in the NetSys lab and is interested in networking and systems research and eating things.
